Water
Monetary Incentives
|
Your school may be eligible to share in the savings that
result from your water conservation efforts. The shared savings program
guidelines are noted below. If you have any further questions you
can contact Rob Van Der
Like, 671-6907. You may also want to check back periodically
on the SAVE Team page to see what other
schools are doing with water conservation. |
Reduction of Water Use
If your initiative results in a reduction of
water use at your school, you may be able to share (50%) in the cost savings
that result. To qualify for shared savings you need to establish
a baseline for a past year's service. Once you have begun your project,
you need to see if it has resulted in reduced water consumption.
If there is a reduction in water use at your school, then a savings to
the school district will result. Not all schools will have a separate water
account. Most schools outside the Ocala city limits are on wells
(but not all). If your school is on a well, you will not be able
to calculate savings from water reduction since there are no separate water
bills to compare. However, each well does have a water meter on it
which is read on a monthly basis. So, you can still track water usage
and compare use trends to a baseline year. This would be a very good
project even if there were no direct monetary incentives.
To document savings, use any of the past 2 calendar
years and compare the costs of the most recent school year. Shared
savings on reduced water consumption is similar to the shared energy savings
procedure. Information on water use costs for your school is available
at the Energy Management Office.
