Maplewood Elementary
The Switch That Saves - Art Project
Lynda Crum, Art Teacher, got her students involved in helping the school maintain awareness of energy consumption by doing "The Switch That Saves" poster project.  She applied for a Project Green Machine grant to obtain the materials needed to put on the project at her school.  Once the light switch covers were completed they were place at light switches around the school.  Some were also given to their business partner, Dayco, for use around their facility.

Mrs. Crum assists students with the switch plate template used for the opening.

After a few pointers and rules to guide them, the students are eager to start.
Here are some of the creations that resulted from the students' efforts.  There is quite a variety of shapes and sizes, so every light switch is unique and gets attention.
